Booking Open! 2017 Fall Family Mini Sessions

I'm excited to announce that booking is now open for the 2017 Fall Family Mini Sessions. Last year, a mini session day fell into place at the last minute, and it was so much fun that we're jumping on it again this year!

Here are the details:

  • The photo sessions will take place at Friendship Park in Gahanna, just off 670E.
  • Each photo session will last 30 minutes and cost $150.
  • Sessions will typically include a family shot, shots of each child, and a shot of the couple. (If you prefer others, I love new ideas!)
  • The digital photo files will be sent to you via email in two weeks.
  • Should it rain on September 16th, the rain reschedule day is September 30th, 2017.

To sign up, hop on over to this page: http://rachelonhearthstone.com/fallminis

I hope to see you there!

Some people like to start off their days with lists. So, here's a list for you:

  1. Me: "This is DEEElicious"...Edith: "Dis DOOO gee jiss!"
  2. Me: "Want a nectarine?"...Edith: "I wanna necky necky."
  3. Me: "Oh my gosh."...Edith: "Oh by dosh."

The bottom line is, I think Edith is the cutest ever.

BUT sometimes I encounter babies that make me forget all of my preferences for my own baby and be swooned by another.

This baby is one of those babies :-)

I was fortunate to shoot Caitlin and Jack's wedding a couple of years ago, and then smitten by their little one in his newborn photo shoot, and now taken again by the three of them a year later!

Words need not precede their cuteness, but I had to confess.

Enjoy,

Rachel

Susanna Joy :: Newborn Photo, Columbus Ohio

I believe Susannah, the little squish in these photos, will one day win some sort of award for being the most compliant human being. I've never taken photos of an infant who cooperated. I've taken photos of happy infants, and well-rested infants, and well-fed infants, but Susannah was, like, participating! I would practically say, "smile!" and she'd smile. There she was saying, "Did you want my left arm here?" at 24 hours old.

That said, I love taking photos of infants, no matter their mood. Photo sessions always provide me a right of passage into such an intimate environment with the people I'm photographing, but infant sessions always do this in a special way. Mom and baby are at their raw-est. One is stunned by joy, the other stunned by the world, and both are wrapped in the swaddling clothes of blessed exhaustion. This sight makes me more sympathetic to humanity as a whole every single time, praise God.

You've seen it, too, I'm sure.

Enjoy,

Rachel

The Dematte's :: Family Photo, Columbus, Ohio

The Dematte's :: Family Photo, Columbus, Ohio

This fantastic day of photo-taking had several highlights. I will list a few of them (in no particular order):

- Liliana's personality (the smallest and bounciest one in all of these photos) and the fact that I'm certain her entire life must be one big photo-op

- A church decorated with Easter lilies just in time (literally) for us to arrive and take wonderfully Easter-joy-filled first communion photos

- Shine, then rain, then shine, then rain, and a full batch of beautiful photos even still

- Stopping for a secret hamburger midway through the shoot (don't tell!)

And this is only a snippet of what made the day so much fun. But really, what made it so great was that I was able to capture stills - paused moments - of a family whose life is a constant movement towards glory to God. Each glance is an exhortation to live fully and intensely! So good.

Enjoy,

Rachel

The Last Boyden's (No, Really. I Promise.) :: Family Photo, Columbus, Ohio

This post serves as the third in a series I've just now entitled, "The Boyden's: A Global Family". This isn't the title because it's a progressive idea of how to approach familial issues with a global mindset. It's the title because I've come to be convinced that, in some way, we're really all Boyden's (and we should be proud)...
