Edith has 22 first cousins, plus three more by June 2015. Yes, that's a lot of cousins. Yes, Tim and I both have lots of siblings. Yes, it's possible.
One of my favorite things to do on any given day is spend time with my nieces and nephews. I've always loved this since the first two were born 11 years ago. I love spending time with them because each and every one of them are evidence of love poured out by parents day-in and day-out. If I had a theory on what would make the world a better place, the answer would be the rosie-cheeked smiley faces in these photos.
My aunt-hood has been sprinkled with some fantastic conversations. Here are a couple:
ME - "Felicity, what do you want to be when you grow up?"...FELICITY (3) - "A cucumber."
ME - "Hank, what do you have in your backpack?"...HANK (3) - "Knives and guns."
UNCLE DOM (coming in the door at night) - "Hi, Moses!" ...MOSES (3) (looks scared)...UNCLE DOM - "Did I scare you?"....MOSES - "No, it's okay. I thought you were a deer."
ME - "Hi, Marielle! Look! It's baby Edith." MARIELLE - "Hi Baby Edif."
My only hope is that I will learn to love Edith in the way my and Tim's siblings love their children, in the way my parents loved us.
