You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream. - C.S. Lewis

You know that feeling when your toes are on the edge of the diving board, and your stomach is a little twisted, but your sense of anticipation and excitement is too overwhelming to stay put? So, with the hot summer sun on your back, you jump into the electric blue.

That's why I love photographing young people for their senior photos. It's like they've bottled that sense of anticipation (even if it's wrapped with a pinch of fear of the unknown) and let it propel them to dive into something totally new, to set a new goal, dream a new dream. Inspiration at its best.

Tessa was one such person. With peace and confidence, she shared this eagerness. She was a joy to photograph and is beautiful inside and out!

Enjoy

Melissa + Andrew :: Wedding Photo - Columbus, Ohio

I had the pleasure of taking engagement photos for Melissa and Andrew last November, which was when I was introduced to this couple's abundance in personality. If you're not on you're toes, you will miss one of Andrew's priceless camera stares. Pure talent, which makes sense given his background in directing film. And that's not all. Melissa, a photographer and designer, spread her artful hand over all of the details of the day, from vintage cameras to beautiful print (see the popcorn bags??).

Through Andrew and Melissa's wedding we all encountered a solid community of family and friends upheld by lots of grace and faith. A true gem of a day.

Simple grace and joy. The personalities of Caitlin and Jack were just that. The celebration was elaborated with details, but the joy that wrapped it all up was very simple...pure joy! The conviction and beautiful faith of the two glimmered through each step of the day. From the readings chosen for the ceremony to the toasts given at the reception, each moment was a pure celebration of the bliss that a new marriage brings.

Congratulations and many blessings to Caitlin and Jack!

7 Things to Remember When Throwing a Bridal Shower

7 Things to Remember When Throwing a Bridal Shower

My parents married three daughters within the span of 18 months. This, by most universal standards, puts them in the "champion" category. It also qualifies them for retirement, a lifelong vacation, and an endless supply of "Yes, I'll stop at the grocery to pick up extra buns" on the way to every future family gathering.

Weddings also mean bridal showers. So much generosity flows! I experienced these showers as the bride, as a planner, and as an attendee. I don't know that all of this qualifies me as an expert by any means, but in the midst of all the months of shower throwing, I was able to pick up a couple pointers that I think help prevent pre-wedding breakdown. I'll share them with you:
